Birthdays Abound

Yesterday, Brady's birthday party was a success other than the fact that he completely melted down after DH left to go pick up the pizza.  I hope everyone had fun.  I tried to even though my little man decided that since it was his party, he could do whatever he wanted like eat M&Ms by the handful before lunch, dumping popcorn EVERYWHERE, and throwing fits.  What can you do?

Today, we are going to celebrate Dustin's birthday which is actually tomorrow.  I made this card for him, but I don't like it very much.  I'll probably try it again.  This card uses a sketch from the Stampin Out Alzheimer's event.  I'm going to try to get more of the challenges done before we head out today.  The stamp set is Unity's Birthday Chic.

Off to create!  Happy Sunday everyone!

EtsyInspired Challenge #38 ~ Bacon Square Farm

This week's EtsyInspired shop is Bacon Square Farm.  The adorable Pete and Tanya (who I've gotten the pleasure of knowing over Etsy chat) run this BEAUTIFUL shop.  They make their creations in a transformed cattle barn and pig feeding station.  How cool is that?

The shop is full of beautiful pieces of furniture, sculptures, bird houses and feeders, pet feeders, metal artwork, and more decor items for your home and garden.  There's a ton of different pieces in this shop everything from shabby chic to industrial.  And I adore it all even though I'm pretty middle of the road when it comes to home decor.  The metal work is refined and pristine with clean lines.  While the bird houses are more distressed, colorful, and quaint.  I do have to say, the birdhouses and garden decor are my favorite.  The color combos are so spot on, charming yet not too bold to be outdoors.  I wish my backyard looked like one of the pictures in this shop!

This week, the adorable Kristen from our DT has a giveaway for you.  Isn't she a sweetie?  She'll be giving away a wood slide Unity stamp.  :)  All you have to do to win is pick any item in the Bacon Square Farm shop to be inspired by and make any creation your little heart desires.  Post a link to your creation right here on this blog post by next Friday June 5th at noon Pacific time to be entered in a random drawing to win the prize.  If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use keyword EIC38 so we can find everyone's creations together.  Now, go be EtsyInspired!

This is my card for the week.  I was inspired by the Rustic Shabby French Cottage Yellow and Pink Birdhouse.  I really love the soft colors so I used them as my inspiration.  And obviously, I used the little house from Unity's May KOTM.  This sketch is also the Monday Mojo sketch from Julee Tilman over at Verve.  She donated this sketch to the Stampin Out Alzheimer's site to use as a challenge.

Don't forget to check out the DT as well:

Random.Brady and EIC37 Winner

This is Random.Brady.  It's what happens when there is complete silence for TEN whole minutes at my house.  That was a brand new box of 60 nursing pads.  It is now just a mess.  (Actually, all still completely usable.)  But look at that face!  Who could be mad at that face?

The winner of this week's EtsyInspired challenge random drawing is Cathy!  YAY again Cathy!  That's what happens when you play week after week here at the EIC, you  just keep winning!  You can see Cathy's beautiful card HERE.

Important note!  From now on, winners should contact the lovely De with their information.  De will be in touch with whomever is hosting the giveaway and she will get your information to them.  Thanks so much for helping out while I'm gone De!  Contact De at stampindeva @ bellsouth dot net.

Friday! HHH Day!

I feel like I was barely at Hip Hop yesterday. I suppose that's ok. I mean, I am a bit busy with being pregnant and having Brady and all. I miss my friends though. Love those girls! Unity has some amazing fans! Angela is having some huge deals this week! Check out the Unity site for details!

I'm sharing a couple Unity cards I made this week. The first one is for last Sunday's featured stamper, Mercy Kerin. You can see the card I CASEd HERE. I simplified this a bit. I left off layers and embellishments. I changed the stamp set and of course the paper. I put some Stickles on the bee (the black stripes and the wings) and added some little dew drops. This card uses Unity's Everyday Adorable set which I just love. Two of my friends (Lindsay and Tanis) created this set. It's just super cute and I love it!

My next card is for Dustin's birthday. It's from Brady. :) I don't know how I'm gonna make a card from Parker, but we'll see. I am in LOVE with this Unity set! It's called Little Me. I just think it's ADORABLE! There are mommy/girl images too but this one just steals my heart. Something about a little boy and his daddy. The words are from Unity too, I got them out of a grab bag so I'm not sure what set they are from. I hand wrote the B behind the sentiment.

This is a sketch from the Stampin Out Alzheimer's event as well. There's some amazing inspiration over there! And some awesome giveaways! Hope you all are over there checking it out!

WooHoo! A Limelight Celebration!

Limelight is gonna celebrate their anniversary next week! I'm so excited! Mandy always has the most fun stuff! I remember finding out about Limelight on National Stamping Day (I think that's what it was) and I did a bunch of the challenges, it was SOOOOOOOO fun! The new challenges start on Monday June 1. More info HERE.

Another Stampin Out Alzheimer's Card

I hope you've already joined the Stampin Out Alzheimer's site!  I'm having tons of fun working on the challenges!  I made yet another card for the Any Winged Thing challenge issued by my friend Katie Cotton.

This is the Buggy Sayings set from Paper Makeup Stamps.  I love the quotes on this set!  That Mary Kay Ash was quite a genius.  I used to sell Mary Kay a LONG time ago and I've heard quite a few quotes from her.  She's a smart lady!  Simple card.  Quote, bee, flowers, faux stitch, Stickles and done.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Flutter By Wednesday #59

My last Flutter By card for a while. :( I'm so sorry this is late, if you want to know why, scroll down to the next post. Each Wednesday, the amazing Danni hosts a Flutter By challenge on her blog. This week's challenge was to use a butterfly or fairy AND brads or eyelets.

This is a super simple card I made with Paper Makeup Stamps. I used two flower brads at the bottom. I also made this card for a challenge on the Stampin Out Alzheimer's site. You can STILL join, just go over the the Stampin Out Alzheimer's widget on the right of my blog and making a $5 donation. ALL the money goes to charity. You can play challenges to win prizes, download freebie, enter in daily giveaway, etc... It's so fun!

Be sure to check out the Flutter By DT as well! Their links are to the right as well if you scroll down a bit. Hugs to each and every one of them, it was such a honor to work with you all! Hopefully, I can rejoin the team later on!

Quick Post and an Apology

I just wanted to update on a few things, just in case anyone is wondering.  I didn't go into labor yet but they were testing me for preeclampsia yesterday so I was edgy all day.  I didn't find out until 7pm last night that I would not have to go to the hospital.

I haven't heard any news on my grandpa since this weekend.  I'm hoping that no news is good news.  I don't know if people just don't want to bother me since I'm so pregnant or what's going.  I do want to  thank all my wonderful friends for the prayers and positive thoughts though!

And I'm SO sorry I don't have a Flutter By card yet.  I'm going to try really hard to do one today.  I couldn't muster up the energy yesterday with all the testing and waiting.  This will be my last Flutter By Challenge for a while.  I will (hopefully, if Danni will have me) rejoin the team after Parker is born and we've settled down a bit.

That's it for now.  I just got back from an exhausting play date where Brady managed to get a fat lip and a bump on his eye, just in time for his birthday party this weekend.  Sigh...

MFT IDOL TOP TWO!!!

It's the LAST week of MFT Idol! Holy moly! This week was an open theme week and just LOOK at this summer survival kit that Shannon (Mrs. Mac) made! Ohhhh, it's GORGEOUS! I stole this picture from her blog but I asked first so I guess it's more like borrowing! Go to THIS thread on SCS to read more and find out how to vote! Every single vote counts so get on there are vote!!

Crazy Made Clean and Simple

My friend Lee issued the You Shouldn't Have Left Us Alone (YSHLUA) challenge this week.  It's basically a CRAZY challenge in return for leaving the girls in chat alone so they can plot evil against you.  ;)  Lee's challenge was to use as many layers as in your username, as many embellishments as you have initials,  and have your card be monochromatic.

There is NO WAY I'm making a card using as many layers as in my username (HeartHugsDesigns.)  It's 16 letters!  So, Lee said we could do half the amount.  I did eight layers and even then I started to feel queasy.  I had all my layers out and then I realized I had to use three embellishments and thought made me sick to my stomach.  I couldn't add MORE to this already way full card!  So, I used ribbon, crystal effects, and glitter as my embellies.  The stamp set is Unity's Everyday Adorable.  I am IN LOVE with this kit, so cute!

Thankfully, the Monday SCS Clean and Simple challenge was to make over one of your own cards!  Woohoo!  I chose to make over my YSHLUA challenge card.  Look at how clean and simple and non queasy it is!  I have to admit four layers is my comfort zone.  I love a nice four layer card.  I used the same stamp kit, paired down the layers, left off the embellishments, and stamped the sentiment directly on one of the layers.  So easy, so clean.

It's a little hard to believe that probably six months ago, I would have preferred the layered card.  I guess that goes to show how we grow.  Maybe one day, I'll go back to being a more is more stamper.  But for now, clean and simple works for me.

Happy Tuesday!

EtsyInspired Reminder and My Card

Here's my EtsyInspired card for this last weekend.  We are having some family issues so I wasn't able to get it done on time.  My Grandpa Sid (who spent his life as a military doctor, BTW) is sick and in the hospital so if you are the praying type or the positive thoughts type, send some over for him ok?

Ok, so here's my card for Sunbasilgarden.  (Can I just say that Kerry did an AMAZING job with the post on Saturday??  YAY KERRY!)  I was inspired by the Pink Grapefruit Loofa Soap.  I love the colors.  I made this card using Unity's March KOTM.  I did some Cuttlebug action on the background to emulate the swirls on top of the soap.  And a little bling.

Don't forget about this week's EtsyInspired challenge!  De is giving away a Unity surprise since she's just so darn sweet!  Scroll down the the post from May 23 for all the details!  Go be EtsyInspired!

Forestprints Inspired

I've decided to try to get my mojo back by trying out the SCS Saturday Inspiration challenge.  It's a bit more literal this week than the EIC so I thought I would give it a try before attempting more difficult projects.  We are to find our inspiration in some purses that were linked.  Here's the one I used.

I went very literal and tried to recreate the scene as it is shown on the purse.  The rainbow is from Unity's March KOTM and the trees are from Unity's Tiny Trinity.  Though this card is a fair representation of the purse, my mojo isn't back yet.  I left it in Tahoe when I went on vacation.  Hopefully, I can find it and get to creating again.

Happy Sunday my friends!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Random.Brady and EIC36 Winner

Here's Random.Brady wearing my sunglasses.  It's this new thing he likes to do.  He finds any pair of sunglasses we have around the house and puts them on.  I bought him his own pair of sunglasses, however I guess they aren't NEARLY as fun even though they have Diego on them.

This week's EtsyInspired Challenge winner is Cathy!  YAY Cathy!  Please email me with your address and I'll pass it on to Laura over at Dogbone Art and you'll get your adorable robot!  :)  You can see Cathy's awesome card HERE!

We'll have a new challenge tomorrow so come on back!

Friday! YAY!

Happy Hip Hop Hangover everyone!  I hope you all had a lovely Thursday and an awesome weekend planned for you!

Here's the last of my vacation/VSN cards.  This was for a challenge with a sketch that looks like a slot machine.  I used this adorable butterfly from Unity's September KOTM.  And all the paper, other than the base, is Basic Grey Gypsy that my friend Kristen sent to me.

Off to start my day, sorry about the late post!  Hugs!

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Hello

Here's another card I did on vacation.  I'm pretty proud of myself for stamping while I was in Tahoe.  It was nice though, to just sit and stamp and relax.  I think I will be bringing my supplies with me on vacation more often.  (Like I'll be going on vacation with a newborn and a toddler.)

This card is for the VSN challenge to make a monochromatic green card.  Let me tell you, VSN inspires me SO much!  All the challenges with the time limit just gets my mojo going!  I used Unity's April KOTM on this card.  I didn't pack any embellies with me when we went on vacation (it was my first time packing supplies!) so it's kind of a plain card.

Happy Thursday!  It's Hip Hop Day!

Do the EtsyInspired Challenge!

How's that for a reminder? I am in love with Dogbone Art and you should be too! Scroll down to last Saturday's post, May 16th for all the details! YAY!

Flutter By Wednesday #58

Good Wednesday morning friends!  I'm back from vacation and slowly adjusting to real life again.  Sigh...my child was beyond spoiled while I was gone so it's gonna be a rough day!

Anyhow, Wednesday means Flutter By Challenge day on Danni's blog!  This week's theme is to use two different kinds of patterned paper with your butterflies or fairies on your card!  Check out Danni's blog for this week's special guest designer's creation.  The guest is Jodi Collins.  And check out this week's featured stamper, Stef who I adore!

I made two cards this week WHILE on vacation!  Go me!  The first card, it's hard to tell but the two side butterflies are cut out of different DP than the argyle background.  I used the Unity April KOTM on this card.  This is also for Lee's VSN challenge to glitter an entire panel or image.  I put Stickles on all three butterflies.  They are COATED!  Though you really can't tell in this photo.

This next card, I made just in case you all thought I was cheating on the last one.  Teehee!  I used a green and a pink DP so you could definitely tell I used two.  The stamps are from Unity's March KOTM.  I didn't bring ANY embellishments with me on my trip except Stickles.  I forgot them all!  So, I just added some doodling to this card.

Please play along with us!  If you upload to PCP or SCS, use keyword FBW!  And check out the rest of the DT on my sidebar!  >>>>

STICKY: Unity KOTM Blog Hop!

***This post will stay at the top during the entire length of the blog hop May 15 at 8am to May 17.  Please scroll down for newer posts!***

Wow!  The day is finally here!  It's the Unity KOTM Blog Hop!  Woohoo!  If you just stumbled on to my blog today, you'll want to start hopping at the Unity Blog.  You should have come from Michele's blog if you are doing the whole hop!

My project today is a set of shadow boxes for Parker to display the maternity pictures I took when I was 32 weeks pregnant.  With Brady, we just framed one picture and people signed it at my baby shower but since I'm not having any baby showers this time, I thought that I'd make a little something special.  And I have four Unity KOTMs so I decided to use two KOTMs on each box.

This first box is a little more emotional.  I used my FAVORITE KOTM, Friendship.  Love.  Miracles. which was from last September and Simple Life from this March to make this box.  My absolute favorite stamp from the Sept kit is the one that says "Where there is great love, there are great miracles."  How perfect is that for a baby??  Really perfect!  I used the scrolly flower to decorate the top left corner.  I cut out the butterflies, photo corners, and scalloped border from this kit as well.  From the March kit, I used the flourish to decorate the bottom right hand corner and I used the "I Love You" sentiment.  The inks are SU Chocolate Chip and Craft Smart White.  The card stock is SU Bashful Blue and the DPs are Making Memories, Sue's Dreams, and the brown one is unknown.

This next box is a little more fun since it has Brady in it.  :)  I used stamps from Fresh Beginnings (April 2009 KOTM) and Remember Happiness (August 2008 KOTM.)  I used the butterfly, together sentiment, the You and Me Simple and Sweet sentiment, the flower silhouette and the journalling box from April's KOTM.  The I Love You sentiment and the small Wish Stick in the far right corner layered on top of the journalling box is from the August KOTM.  The paper and ink the same.

I hope you enjoyed my project!  I love KOTM as you can tell!  Your next stop on this hop is Katrina!

My VSN Challenge

Good morning from beautiful Lake Tahoe! :) It was QUITE the effort to get here. At one point, a 4 lane freeway was closed down to just one lane because of a huge accident/fire. It took us 2 hours to go 2 miles. I almost DIED of impatience, discomfort, and heat! We came VERY close to the car overheating. But now, we are here in Tahoe and trying to enjoy our weekend! Enough blabbering.

This is my sample for my own challenge over at SCS for VSN. (There's still time to play, you have until Tuesday night to upload! There are prizes too!) My challenge is called Lucky Number Seven (the beautiful Ms Shannon Bracken posted it for me.) All you have to do is use SEVEN of any embellishment that you use. I did 7 inches of ribbon, 7 pearls, 7 rhinestones, and 7 dots of Stickles. This card uses Unity's Big Polka Dot Cupcake for this card.

I've brought supplies with me to make more cards but SCS seems to be down so I don't know if I'll be able to do it. Happy Sunday friends!

EtsyInspired #36 ~ Dogbone Art

This week's EtsyInspired shop is Dogbone Art. Oh my gosh, I am BEYOND excited about this shop! If this shirt to the right looks familiar to you, it's because Mary Alice wore it on Ace Of Cakes! ACK! How cool is that? Not only that, but Laura (the owner) still has time to talk to the little people like me! :)

I do HAVE to say, that I have loved Dogbone Art since BEFORE Ace of Cakes. I was up late one night browsing Etsy and I ran across the "Cheese Please" shirt and fell in love right then and there. I love food, I love clothes, and I love cartoons so basically, there's not much about this shop I don't love. In fact, there's nothing I don't love about it! I love the bright fun colors and the cheeky style! I would actually love to see these images turned into stamps! Ohh, wouldn't that be a COOL idea?! Check them out for the awesome shirts, plushies, bags, stickers, magnets, buttons, and much much more!

This week, Laura is giving away a robot plushie to one lucky winner. These are so darn cute! I want one! All you have to do to win is pick ANY item in the Dogbone Art shop and use it as inspiration for any creation you'd like to make. Post a link to your creation right here on this post by next Friday, May 22nd noon Pacific time and you will be entered in a random drawing to win the prize. If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use keyword "EIC36." Now, go be EtsyInspired!

PS I hear that De is giving away a little Unity love to one lucky player this week too! You might wanna pop over to her blog for details!

Here's my sample for this week. For some reason, I'm in a super pink mood lately. I used Merry Muffins from Stampendous. I love this little penguin. I used the Monkey Muffins as my inspiration. It's just a simple little card.
Check out the DT too!

Flutter By Wednesday #57

Alrighty! Wednesday means Flutter By Challenge day on Danni's blog! Go over to her blog to see who the featured stamper is and the guest stamper! Also, we have two new DT members this week! Check them out; Leila and Christine.

This week's challenge is to make a card with a quote or sentiment on it. So, yeah, I cased myself on this card. What can you do? :) I stamped the butterflies directly on the card base and then the quote on gold metallic paper. I attached the quote piece with pop dots and then I added some bling in the corner. Easy peasy!

If you play along with this challenge and upload to SCS or PCP, please use keywork FBW so we can find your creation!

Also, please VOTE FOR SHANNON (mrsmac) for MFT Idol! She's in the top 4 and she needs our votes to stay in the competition. She made an AMAZING creation this week, go HERE to see it! I love it sooooooooooo much! Go HERE to vote!

A Sunday Inspiration Card

Wow, it's been a LONG time since I've done the SCS Inspiration challenge.  It's a challenge I absolutely love because inspiration is so open to interpretation.  Also, Stephanie picks the BEST shops and stuff to be inspired by!

This week's challenge was to be inspired by pillows from Bonjour Mon Coussin.  They have a wide variety of all sorts of pillows.  It's a very fun shop!  Here is the pillow that inspired me.  I really liked how simple it was compared to the rest of their designs.  Not that I'm against loud, this one just spoke to me.

For my card, I just used some grey card stock and stamped on two different sized flowers from the Unity August KOTM in two different colored inks.  Then I added some sheer ribbon.  A one layer card, who would have thought it?

Happy Tuesday everyone!
