Woot!

Hello friends! I hope you are doing well! I'm tired today, I didn't get home until 3am. But the movie was worth it! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. :)

Here's a card for today. I made this with elements from the Making Memories Just Chillin line. I think it's a fun teen card. The ribbon is from May Arts, the only thing that isn't Making Memories. I love the sentiment! I think it's perfect for a birthday, graduation, congrats on good grades or whatever card.

A few notes today:

It's ECLIPSE Day! (And a Card)

Alright friends, how many of you are going to a midnight showing of Eclipse?! I am!! Woohoo! I actually have tickets to see all three movies so my bum will be quite numb later on. Teehee! I can't wait!!

I have a shabby chic type card to share with you today. The die cuts and DP are all K. & Company. When I saw these die cuts, I knew I had to have them even though they aren't my normal clean style. I'm having a bit of fun right now trying new things. The alpha stickers are from Making Memories. The lace and the button are vintage, bought at that antique fair I went to a few weeks back.

Hope you all have a wonderful Tues! Our air conditioner is fixed, thank goodness! It got up to 106 degrees yesterday! The company (Aerotech) was awesome, I told them I had a baby and they came right at the beginning of my 4 hour window! Thanks for all the concern! You truly are the BEST blog friends a girl could have!

PS Check out my friend Paulina's BLOG CANDY! It's amazing!

Ippity Hop: Baby Card

Hello friends! I hope you had a great weekend! It is currently Sunday night at 10pm and 86 degrees INSIDE MY HOUSE. We came home after the boy's birthday lunch to find our air conditioner broke. It's supposed to be 100 degrees tomorrow, so please pray that it gets fixed fast. Parker already has a heat rash!

Ok, enough about me. Here's a card I made with Ippity's Moonbeams and Heartstrings. The DP is 3 Bugs in a Rug. The ribbon is from my May Caffinated Cropper kit. The punch is Martha Stewart.

Hop on over to the Ippity blog to see the full list of everyone participating in today's hop!

Bicycle Smile

Hello friends! I hope that this weekend is treating you well! :) We are about ready to go to my In-laws' house to celebrate the kids birthday with our families. It's just a little lunch but I'm sure it will be lots of fun.

Today, I'm sharing a card I made for the Limelight Papercrafts sketch and product challenge. I combined this with the Moxie Fab Bicycle challenge. I tried to make a semi-masculine card, did it work? The paper and chipboard are Cosmo Cricket's Boyfriend line. The string is from May Arts, bought at Limelight. And the stamp is Unity Stamp Co and Samantha Walker's Retro Roadsigns. Easy peasy!

Hope that you all have a wonderful Sunday! Hugs and KEEP COOL! It's gonna be 99 degrees here today!

EtsyInspired #94 ~ Sand Box Designs

This week's EtsyInspired shop is Sand Box Studio. This shop specializes in funky and fun gift boxes, bags, and bunco games. This shop carries lots of bright and cheery items that are reusable which I love since it's always good to be environmentally sounds. And how fun are the bunco games? I belong to a bunco group and it would be so fun to have a box like the ones in this shop to keep all our game supplies in! This shop also offers custom work, you just have to contact the shop owner. This week, they are giving away the bird market bag seen on the left here.

Here is my card for this week. It is based off of the Funky Blue House Market Bag. The bag inspired me to make a housewarming card. The image stamp is Ippity, the sentiment is PTI. The DP is Little Yellow Bicycle and the punch I used is from EK Success.

CC: Pocket Full of Sunshine Hop!

****Second post for today, please scroll down for FWF!****

Hi everyone! Welcome to another awesome Caffinated Cropper hop! You should be joining me from Amy's blog. If not, hop on back there and do the whole hop. It will be inspiring!

Ok, my first card was made for the EBtKS challenge. It is a sketch this time. For this card, I used some of the fun Sassafrass paper and it already had this awesome decorative edge on it. Isn't that awesome? This time, I didn't really want the shiny gold doily so I turned it over and used the back. I die the felt and then added some buttons. (The felt was so fun and easy to die cut!) Then I added this sweet sentiment! I love this sentiment! I want a whole sheet of them. Or maybe a stamp would make more sense. :) The dimensions are a little off from the sketch but I think you can still see it.

The next card I made is using the sketch from Card Positioning Systems. Clearly, I'm loving sketches this week. So, this card was made with the October Afternoon papers. I used my awesome Stickerz for this card as well. I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with EAD Stickerz! They are amazing and make cards come together so quickly.

Ok, check out the DT for all the amazing inspiration (the list is in my sidebar)! Your next stop is Amber!

FWF: Finally Some Dear Lizzy!!

Hi there! Hope you are all enjoying the Unity Friends With Flair blog hop! Aren't you glad it's Friday! YAY for the weekend!

Ok, so here's a card I made with some Dear Lizzy stuff from American Crafts. I've been dying to get my hands on some of this stuff but I couldn't find it at any of the places that I normally shop at. Then, a couple weeks ago, I walked into a LSS and there it was in all it's glory! :)

Here's a quick run down, the paper, flower and the bird chipboard are Dear Lizzy. The sentiment is Unity from the Our Life, Our Stories set. The ribbon is from I {heart} Papers, the ribbon is from my stash. The ticket is from my Caffinated Cropper June kit.
Check out the Unity blog for full list of people participating in today's hop.

PURE JOY!

I'm elated today! I woke up to an acceptance email from the AMAZING Susan Opel of Paper Crafts Magazine! Getting into Paper Crafts has been a goal of mine for a while now but I really committed to it this year. And to have accomplished my goal is just mind-blowing! Now, I have to set a new goal and I'm ok with that. :) This year in crafting so far has been my best yet and I'm overjoyed at it all!

So, in honor of my joy, I share with you a Pure Joy card today. :) I'm dabbling in a little vintage. What do you think? Paper Crafts seems to think I should be CAS. ;) Anyhow, the bird sticker is from K & Company, isn't it sweet? I also got some yummy Webster's Pages paper. We'll see what I can do with that. The burlap string is from May Arts. The lace is vintage, I got it at the Antiques by the Bay event in San Francisco, a few weeks ago. The flower stick pin is from the Dollar Tree. The button is Jenni Bowling and the felt leaves are from my Caffinated Cropper June kit.

Hope you all have a joyful day as well!

Amy Inspired

You know my friend Amy who takes all our pictures? Well, I wanted to make her a thank you card for all that she does for us. But then, I decided to up the ante and little bit and make the card inspired BY her. Do you all ever do that?

So, I chose the fleur-di-lis because she's from Louisiana and loves them! The sticker is from Colorbok, who I am loving lately. The colors are based off her swimsuit and swim cover actually. This is the outfit that sticks out most in my mind because her sister told her it makes her look like a bumble bee. :) It does NOT, by the way! Bees don't have dots! The polka dot paper is Jillibean Soup. The yellow ribbon is from MFT and the black and white ribbon is from L'il Davis Designs. The stamp is from Ippity's Just Wanted to Say. I decided to make this card tall and skinny like her too. :)

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Party Pictures

Ok friends, I did get some cards made today but I didn't get them photographed so they'll have to wait until tomorrow. We had a busy day today and spent half the day with my in-laws so I didn't get all the time I wanted to craft. But that's ok.

Here are some pictures of the kids' Mario birthday party from my friend Amy at Amy Leigh Photography. We got a party package at a local pizza place and the kids had a blast! There was air hockey, foosball, and a basketball game. Oh and a karaoke machine (if you know anyone from Minnesota, please call them and make them say the word "karaoke" to you, it's adorable.) You might notice that there aren't as many pictures of Brady. That was because he was being a crying Mr Fussypants that day. Sigh...

Mario Cart cake made by my other friend Amy
Brady playing air hockey
Parker singing karaoke
Blowing out the candles (we forgot a lighter, so he was pretending)
Cake face
This is YUMMY! I've been missing out!
Pinata time! We didn't have anywhere to hang it so daddy held it while standing on a chair
Yay! Candy!

Getting Things Done and a Blog Truffle

I don't have anything new to share today. I've been working my bottom off on the Paper Crafts call and I submitted 17 cards to the call. I'm really proud of myself and I hope that something will make it into the magazine. But either way, I'll still be happy with myself. I jumped so far out of my box that I could barely see it anymore. :) So, when the rejections come rolling in, I'll have cards to share. But tomorrow, I'll start working on new stuff to share on my blog.

Also, be sure to check out the Creative Inspirations Paint blog because there's a BLOG TRUFFLE over there! You can enter to win FIVE free jars of paint! Eeek! Hurry on over!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my amazing husband! He is amazing and confident with the kids. Actually, ALL kids clamor to him and you know, they say that little kids are good judges of character. Fathering comes completely natural to him and I am so proud of him!

I hope you all have amazing Father's Days with your hubbies or your own dads!

Happy Birthday BRADY!! (EIC Will Be Late)

Happy birthday to my first born! My active and constantly challenging child. My always has the perfect reaction to social situations boy. My Mr. Personality. My Sponge Brady No Pants. My missing piece!

They say that you are given the child that you can handle, the child that will teach you what you need to learn or help you grow those parts of your personality that might have been deficient. I've had friends have to learn to relinquish control. I've had friends grow their patience. And though both of those things have happened to me, that's not what this child gave me.

I know that God had something every special in mind when He gave me Brayden. I was so lost. I didn't know my way though I think I might have gotten close since I constantly was working with children. And then Brady came. My purpose was made clear. I was a mommy with no baby before but now I was complete.

Before Brady, on the outside, I was always a cheerful person. I could put that mask on so people would think I was fun to be around and that nothing was wrong. The truth was that the traumatic childhood I had was constantly weighing on me. Though I could appear cheerful, I was never happy. And THAT is what Brady gave back to me. Through him, I was able to reclaim JOY. I learned how to be happy again. And for that, I will always be grateful.

So, thank you God, thank you Brayden, and thank you Dustin. Thank you for pulling the halves of my heart back together and making it whole again. Thank you for the smile on my face. Thank you for the joy in my heart.

Pocket Full of Sunshine DT Hop!

Hello friends! Welcome to the Caffinated Cropper DT hop for the June kit, Pocket Full of Sunshine. :) I am loving this bright cheery kit!

Today, I've assembled a card set for you. This is really a very rare occurrence for me. I hardly ever do sets but I am SUPER in love with these Stickerz! They are so cute and so inspiring! In fact, I think this is the most fun I've ever had creating with stickers. I added the white card stock to make these cards but everything else is from the kit.

Super cute Stickerz and some pleated ribbon from the kit.
Another simple one with Stickerz and the baker's twine from the kit.
And here's one with the Stickerz and some MLS paper from the kit.
Be sure to check out the rest of the girls for all the amazing inspiration!

Creative Inspirations Paint: Beach Colors

It's time for another Creative Inspirations Paint DT challenge. This week Marti challenged us to use beach colors like blue, yellow, and tan. What a wonderful challenge! It is HOT HOT here in California right now!
I decided to go with a super clean and simple card. I think that sometimes, it's nice to have just one layer so it's easy to send. This card reminds me of my friend Kelley Eubanks who is the QUEEN of CAS and twine. :) The paint colors I used are Vintage Gold, Sky Blue, and Sunshine. The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co's Beach Days and Sun Rays. The twine is May Arts.

I really like how this turned out! If it wasn't the complete wrong season, I think it'd submit this card for publication. There's just something so fresh about it.

Check out the Creative Inspirations Paint blog for amazing projects from the design team!

You can also get a bundle with Birds of a Feather for only $50! We also have TWO new guest designers for this month, Jessica Diedrich and Stephanie Zito! These girls are AWESOME!

First up is a typical bright and sunny "Ashley" card. :) Teehee! The only thing I added to this card that isn't in the kit is the white card stock. I used the My Little Shoebox paper for the background. The main image and sentiment are for the two Stickerz sets from EAD. The frame is LYB, doesn't it look like Nesties Lable 1? I think so! And the ribbon and the buttons are also from the kit.

Ok, and now here's my vintage-y, masculine kind of card. I know, right? Didn't think you had it in me, did you? Isn't this a completely different look? It's with the SAME kit! I did "dirty" it up a little bit though. I took the newspaper, distressed it and then inked the edges with some black ink from my stash. Then I took one of the gold doilies and painted it some Mocha Latte Creative Inspirations Paint to age it a little bit. I spelled out the sentiment (in my head because of the season finale of Glee) with the Jenni Bowlin stickers and used some of the banner stickers from the same sheet.

Check out the DT!! There's gonna be some fabulous inspiration!

Enjoy the Ride!

Happy Monday everyone! I got a little crafty time the other night after I finally finished all the crafts for the kids' party so I put together a few cards. I have one to share with you today as all the others are for DT things or calls.

Here's an attempt at the Moxie Fab World bicycle challenge. I have this fabulous bicycle transparency from Hambly so I wanted to use that. I was just trying to figure out how I wanted to attach it to the card and I decided to punch holes in the and tie it on with Scrappers Floss. The sentiment is created with white Thickers and little red alpha stickers from MLS. The Kraft card stock is punched with an EK Success border punch.

Hope you all have a great week!

Happy Birthday PARKIE!!

Happy birthday to the tiniest love of my life! My Parkie Chops, my chubba wubba, my happy boy. I love you more than words can even say!

I can't believe how fast this last year has flown by! I feel like I was just barely pregnant yesterday, how is it that my BABY is already one year old?!? I'm so sad that this sweet period in his life just flew by so fast. It makes me want to cry. I know that he's still a baby and we have so much to look forward to, but I wish things would just slow down a bit.

It's a MARIO Party!

Okay friends, I'm here late Saturday night to share the projects that we made for Brady and Parker's joint birthday party tomorrow. Brady has been SUPER interested in Super Mario lately. I don't know how it came about though Dustin is a huge Mario fan so that could be it. (WARNING: VERY LONG POST!)

When we decided to have a Mario party, I figured that I would have to special order a bunch of stuff off of the internet. However, we decided to try to save some money and do things ourselves. So, I Googled Mario birthday parties and found the BEST BLOG EVER!! It's called Cool Party Blog and this gal has the BEST ideas for do it yourself parties that are just AMAZING!! I would LOVE to go to one of her parties, but this lady knows how to party! She HAS to be the cool mom from class where the kids look forward to her parties all year!

First up, I made her Yoshi Loot Bags. Though the directions aren't too hard, these bags were a horrible pain to make! I started WAY too late and had to go to a bunch of different stores to try to find this lime green party bag to be the base. Well, the party store was out both times I checked. No other stores had this color in the right size so I had to settle for these bags from Michael's that are too small for the template. So, Dustin had to reduce the template to 93% after tons to playing with it and it worked. Inside, we put a bunch of fun little party favors from the Dollar Tree.

Next up, I made Cool Party Blog's Mario and Luigi party hats for all the kids. Now, she was able to find reversible red and green poster board and make her hats reversible. I was not. Funny story, I DID find reversible red and BLUE poster board and in a moment of insanity, I thought "PERFECT! Red for Mario, blue for Luigi!" Well, on the way home, I remembered that Luigi wears GREEN! Whoops!

Then I later decided that the red poster board wasn't quite RED enough, so I used card stock instead. MISTAKE! I used Gina K pure luxury card stock. That's how much I love my kids, I'm willing to sacrifice my super nice card stock for them. Well, the issue is that this amazing card stock is TOO thick and not pliable enough for hats. So, if you want to make these, FIND the poster board in the right shade of red. (NOTE: They do not have the right shade of red at Target, Walmart, or Joann!) ;) To the left, is the adorable Parker modeling the Mario hat.

Here's Brady modeling the Luigi hats. Doesn't he look happy and so grateful I spent all that time making these hats for him and his friends? ;) These were made out of the nice poster board I found at Michael's and they were SO much easier to score and fold. Especially since you need to score a curve into the hats so that they can mold around a person's head. These are made with elastic bands on the back. They kind of look like visors. They fit everyone, even my GIANT noggin!

Ok, the next project evolved over time. Originally, Dustin was thinking that we should have question mark boxes for party favors. However, I decided (for some crazy reason) that I didn't want to print, cut, score and assemble 12 cubes all by myself. Then, we thought about just making them and setting them around the room as decorations. THEN I got a lightbulb moment!

Have you ever played Super Mario? Well, Mario finds these question mark boxes and he gets all sorts of fun things out of them like one up mushrooms, coins, fire flowers, etc... So, my thought was TREATS should come out of the box! A pinata!! I can't take credit for any of the making of this pinata other than the idea. Dustin made it for the boys.

Dustin took the box our new rice cooker came in and turned it inside out. He painted it yellow and printed out question marks. He glued them to the box. Then he cut out a "trap door" into the bottom of the box. One of the ribbons is tied to the trap door. The other ribbons are just tucked into the box. One lucky child will pull the trap door ribbon and all the candy will come pouring out...we hope! Here's Dustin wearing his Official Nintendo Mario hat and modeling the box.

So, the party is tomorrow at lunch time. I hope it goes well. Have a great Sunday everyone!

My First Cupcards! :)

My friend Sonda owns a card kit club called Cupcards To Go. She just had a huge grand re-opening and I bought my FIRST Cupcards to Go kit. It's super duper fun! I actually got to see Sonda today and we cropped at a LSS.

Everything on this card (including the base) is from the June Kit except the white card stock that the sentiment rub-on is on and the twine (which is PTI.) I used Sonda's Fiskars punch for the white paper and her Fiskars scissors for the white floral paper. I love love love this SEI Mimosa line! It is FABULOUS!

Alright lovebugs, have a great weekend! I hope I'll be back soon with some crafts for the kiddos' birthday party. Things are coming along.

What's Keeping Me Busy

Oh my goodness! I feel like I can't get a single moment of crafting in! Wanna know what's keeping me busy? It's these two! >>>> It feels like EVERYDAY we have play dates or birthday parties or a doctor's appointment. And at the end of the day, I'm exhausted!

Not only that, but we are having back to back birthdays! Parker will be turning one on June 13 and we will be having a joint birthday party for both kids with their friends. Then Brady will be turning three on June 18, we are taking him to Toy Story 3 for his birthday. Then on June 26, we are hosting a lunch for our families to celebrate the kids' birthdays. This month is busy busy busy! Not to mention everyone else's birthdays, graduations, baby showers, etc...

I am working on some crafty things for the kids' birthday party but they are not to the point where I can photograph them yet. Quite frankly, because they are only half done. :( So, THAT is what I'll be doing for the rest of this week. I'm pretty sure it will be quiet on my blog.

Have a great week everyone!

Let's Fill Some Mail Boxes People!

Copy and pasted from Kristen's blog:

Ethan is my cousin's son. He is 8 years old .Ethan was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4 on March 5th, 2005. This devastating news came just days after his 3rd Birthday. The doctors told us that Ethan’s overall chance of survival was only 25%. Who would have ever thought that his leg pain and unexplained fever was cancer.

The worst of the worst…a deadly form of cancer where there is no specific treatment meant just for Neuroblastoma. Instead, trial studies and experimentall therapies were in our future.

Ethan underwent 6 rounds of extremely high dose chemotherapy, surgery to remove the tumor in his abdomen, a stem cell transplant and 12 rounds of radiation to the tumor site. This trial study was followed up by an experimentall therapy at Sloan Kettering in New York called 3F8 Antibody Treatment. Ethan received 5 rounds of this treatments before becoming “Hama” positive, which means his immune system is trained to fight neuroblastoma cells.

Today, Ethan is cancer free and is back to enjoying all the childhood fun and games that was taken from him for over a year and a half. Doctors have also increased his overall chance of survival to 50% (considering the high rate of relapse).

UPDATE:

In November 2007, a lump was found on Ethan's left shoulder blade...later to be diagnosed as osteochondroma, a benign tumor growth in the bone. This is in part, a side effect of having Total Body Irritation for his Stem Cell Transplant.
Around June of 2008, several benign tumors were discovered on Ethan's liver.

On Nov. 21, 2008, we found out that Ethan's cancer had returned, Recurrent Neuroblastoma. MIBG uptakes were discovered in one shoulder, his leg, his spine and chest...along with in his bone marrow. There were a total of 12 spots at re-diagnosis

Ethan underwent 2 rounds of high dose chemo followed by a set of scans. The scans showed that the chemo was not acting effectively.
Ethan then underwent one round of maintenance chemo before becoming the first patient in a New England hospital to receive MIBG therapy (aka liquid radiation). The first round was scheduled the week of Ethan's 7th Birthday (feb 17th). Follow up scans show a HUGE improvement, leaving residual uptake on MIBG scan and small traces in the bone marrow. Then Ethan underwent a 2nd round at the beginning of May 2009, scan results show "stable with limited improvement".

At this time, Ethan only had two more spots to take care of. So he underwent more chemotherapyy, using irinotecan, carboplatin and temodar...followed up by a much needed stem cell rescue. Results "stable with no improvement". At that point, we decided to allow Ethan's body to rest and put him on a treatment known for stability called ABT-751 at the beginning of Sept. 2009. However, in November 2009, Ethan's cancer showed 2 new spots of progression and we had to discontinue the use of the ABT-751.

From there, Ethan began a treatment using Temodar and Thalidomide, which consists of taking pills at home...everyday. Also, at this point, I added Harmazone, a form of"Essiac" to Ethan's daily routine. Later, I added the use of a DHA supplement. Thus far, the DHA has proven to rid Ethan of his mood swings and temper tantrums.

After 4 rounds of Thalidomide/Temodar treatment, On March 18, 2010 scan results showed massive "widespread" progression throughout Ethan's entire skeletal system, from his shoulders down his arms, down his spine and chest cavity, to his pelvis, and down his legs, right down to his ankles.

We then decided to try out a new phase 1 protocol using both IV and oral cyclophosphomide, with Avastin and Zometa. This treatment is primarily used for bone metastesis. Unfortunately Ethan's LFT's remained too elevated to remain on protocol.

Scans were conducted in Vermont, as preparation for a new study. Results show even more progression to several area's in skull and soft tissue mass on spine. Radiation was conducted to the orbital area and spine, along with etoposide and velcade treatments. Biopsies were perfomed for DNA and RHA testing for Personalized Medicine Study in Vermont.

Well, today we received devastating news. The Brain tumor has more than doubled in size and is now causing focal seizures. They will do radiation for comfort only at this point. Things are not looking good for Ethan and he is in need of prayers and whatever happiness we could give him. Ethan & his sister sierra love to receive cards. If you could find the time to mail them a card, I am sure it would bring a smile to their face. Particularly Ethan, as he is in Boston Children's Hospital continuing with radiation. If you would like to mail them a card you may do so to:

Meet Bella Tucker
Bella Tucker is an 8-year-old girl who attends South School Elementary in Londonderry, New Hampshire and is a member of the Phantom Gymnastics team. Bella came down with a near fatal infection on Easter Sunday. Doctors gave little hope for this third graders’ survival, but after five days in a coma she miraculously survived Streptococcus Pneumonia Sepsis with DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation).

Unfortunately, her survival from this infection was not without significant cost. The infection caused extensive tissue damage, and on April 27, 2010, Bella underwent quadruple amputation surgery and is currently facing an extremely long and hard recovery at Children’s Hospital in Boston with extensive rehabilitation to follow, as she learns to live life without her limbs.

Fortunately, Bella has the love and support of her three older brothers and younger sister during these trying times. The family is suddenly faced with significant challenges, many of which can be eased with financial help. For example, their home in Londonderry, New Hampshire will need extensive modifications to accommodate a wheelchair. Bella's mother, who is also her primary insurance holder, must be by her side during the extensive rehabilitation process and therefore she will be unable to work, causing the family to lose significant income. Since her mother will be with her during this process, the family needs funds for daycare of their other children. Lastly, she will be faced with medical challenges for the rest of her life.
Bella loves receiving cards and they would be sure to make her smile. I am currently awaiting her address, but you may mail her cards to my address until further notice.

How Cute is THIS?!?

I don't have a project to show you today but I do have this AMAZING picture of Parker that my friend Amy of Amy Leigh Photography took. After our last family session, I realized that I still needed some just in diaper pictures of Parker before he lost his adorable chubbiness. So, we did another session.

This is my very very favorite of the whole session. Look at my boy's sweet face! Don't you love him?! I certainly do. He's gonna be one next week. I can't believe how fast this year has flown by!

The DP is from DCWV, the stamp set is Ippity Regal Greetings, the ribbon is Target $ Spot and I accented with some Fruit Punch Stickles.
